Environment

McAfee Drive Encryption (DE) 7.1.x and later
McAfee Agent (MA) 5.0.3.272

Problem

All systems fail to activate after successfully installing Drive Encryption. 

This issue reported new encrypted systems that are unable to recognize any Domain Users at the preboot authentication screen, only Local Directory User accounts are recognized.

The issue will be seen on systems with MA 5.0.3.272
Client side shows:
The user sees the following on the client in the Encryption System Status window, even though the encryption policy was activated in ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO):
 
 System State Inactive 
 Volume Status No volume information
 Progress Progress bar shows no encryption activity
 

ePO Console shows:
The administrator sees the following Client System Details for Drive Encryption:
State In-Active

Clicking on MoreDisks shows the following message:

No details available, as Drive Encryption is not Active

Problem

MfeEpe.log records the following errors:
ERROR   MfeEpeServiceLPCServer    One or more LPC channels failed to unsubscribe
ERROR   MfeEpeCoreEncryptionPlugin    [0xEE000004] Failed to receive
ERROR   EpoPlugin    userHandler: failed to process user updates/acknowledgement: [0xEE000005] Failed to deserialize type
ERROR   EpoPlugin    userHandler: failed to process batched user data response: [0xEE010010] User list missing from activate command
ERROR   EpoPlugin    userHandler: failed to process user updates/acknowledgement: [0xEE000006] No policy store

Cause

The MA macompatsvc process runs slowly on systems with MA 5.0.3.272 installed, which leads to slow policy enforcement.

Solution

This issue is resolved in MA 5.0.3.316 Hotfix 1131329, which is available from the Product Downloads site.
