Failed to load the list of installed products for your ePolicy Orchestrator installation (after clicking Migrate in the Upgrade Compatibility Utility)
Technical Articles ID:   KB87416
Last Modified:  7/10/2018

Environment

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 4.6.8 to 5.3.1 upgrades, 5.1.x to 5.3.x upgrades, and 5.3.x to 5.3.x upgrades

Problem

Immediately after you click Migrate in the ePO 5.3.1 Upgrade Compatibility Utility, another pop-up window displays with the following error:

Failed to load the list of installed products for your ePO installation. Please check the admin name and password and try again.

This error displays despite using the correct ePO admin name and password, and you can log on to the ePO server successfully.

The cpcwiz.log contains the following errors:

Cause

The ePO Upgrade Compatibility Utility cannot parse the .../McAfee/ePolicy Orchestrator/server/conf/server.xml file on the previous version server.

Solution

Replace the server.xml file with a default copy from another ePO server of the same version as the original ePO server.

NOTE: You must edit the ports to match the original server.xml file, and then run the Upgrade Compatibility Utility again.
