This article provides the steps and scripts to support customers who want to upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary Update, on systems using
DE 7.1.3 Hotfix 1148978 or later. The hotfix is available on the Product Downloads site, using a valid grant number.
Microsoft provided a new command-line switch,
/ReflectDrivers, which are available only in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. It allows drivers to be added to the operating system image during the setup and installation phase, via configuration file (*.inf). For more information about this new command-line switch and others,

Upgrades are supported from the following operating systems, which are configured to use either a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) or Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) system, to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update:
- Windows 7
- Windows 8.0
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 10 (Released to World)
- Windows 10 version 1511 (November Update)
IMPORTANT:
- Customers who want to upgrade the operating system to Windows 10 Creators Update with DE 7.2.1 or later installed, see KB89000.
- DE 7.1 Patch 3 Hotfix 1148978 (build 7.13.604) or later must be in place before you start the upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
- Support for Opal upgrades is not available.
- Download the Windows 10 ISO from the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) site.
WARNING: The steps contained in this article do not work for the Windows 10 ISO from the public Microsoft Download Center.
- You must complete the procedure in this article when upgrading to Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
WARNING: If you perform the upgrade without first following the instructions outlined in this article, after the first system restart, Windows will fail to boot correctly and will display the following two options:
- Troubleshoot the problem
- Turn off your PC
At this point, select the option Turn off your PC. When the computer is turned on again, Windows has rolled back to the previous operating system state, before the upgrade attempt.
