Data Recovery from an encrypted corrupted removable media storage device
Technical Articles ID:   KB88002

McAfee Endpoint Encryption for Files and Folders (EEFF) 4.2.x
McAfee File and Removable Media Protection (FRP) 5.x, 4.3.x

The recovery method within the EEFF/FRP policy is designed for password recovery only on encrypted removable media devices. The company does not provide recovery services or procedures when encrypted removable media devices experience a hardware failure or data corruption.

As a best practice, removable storage devices should be used only for data transfer and temporary storage, and not for permanent data retention for critical files. As with all data stored on systems without redundant data protection, a secure backup solution should be in place to provide permanent data retention for critical files.

If data corruption on the encrypted removable media device is reoccurring and reproducible, contact Technical Support for troubleshooting advice.
