McAfee Endpoint Upgrade Assistant (EUA) 2.x, 1.x

The EUA tool is available from the ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) Software Manager. The primary intent of EUA is to help customers upgrade to Endpoint Security for Windows from the following legacy products:
  • VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 - any update level
  • Endpoint Security 10.x - any version earlier than your specified target Endpoint Security version
McAfee recommends using EUA for all deployments and upgrades where possible.*

* Some limitations can exist in the EUA compatibility matrix.

What are the main features of EUA?
EUA includes the following features:
  • EUA analyzes the endpoints in your ePO environment, detects the supported McAfee products that are installed, and determines the minimum requirements for upgrading to current versions of the products. With this information, you can plan and implement product upgrades efficiently throughout your environment.
  • EUA collects and analyzes the data about your environment, and then provides tools to help with upgrading. Tabs organize the information and tasks that you need for upgrading your legacy product environment. You can run Upgrade Readiness reports to provide a status summary for endpoints in the environment.
  • EUA does not change the ePO environment.
  • EUA facilitates the tagging of endpoints for upgrade using ePO deployment tasks. Tagging lets you identify endpoints that require the same set of upgrade steps, called upgrade scenarios, so they can be updated using a single deployment task.
  • EUA Upgrade Automation can create a custom deployment package that includes all products that need to be upgraded in a single, one-click deployment task. Automation performs the multiple upgrade tasks for multiple products, as required.
  • Upgrade history line chart reporting lets you identify the changes made to your environment.
Product components
EUA includes these ePO components:
  • Extension — Install on the ePO server. Provides the features for analyzing, preparing, and planning McAfee product upgrades for your environment. Ensure that your endpoints are running ePO 5.1.2 or later.
  • Client package — Deploy to managed endpoints. Allows the use of automated upgrade scripts, called Upgrade Automation.
