Unable to view the Endpoint Security Firewall Catalog from ePolicy Orchestrator with the Network section selected
Technical Articles ID:   KB88337
Last Modified:  9/5/2019

Environment

McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS) Firewall 10.2.x

Problem

You are unable to view the Firewall Catalog in ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) with the Network section selected. The screen is either blank or contains random text.

Cause

The cause of this issue is a Tomcat \ JVM bug. The server compresses the response before returning it to the browser. The issue occurs during this compression and results in either the Tomcat service crashing or a corrupted page.

Solution

This issue is resolved in ENS 10.2.1.

McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products.

Workaround

To resolve the issue, disable compression:
  1. Stop the ePO services:
    1. Press Windows+R, type services.msc, and click OK.
    2. Right-click each of the following services and select Stop:

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Application Server
      McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Server
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Event Parser

  2. Open the file <ePO installation directory>\Server\conf\server.xml.
  3. Search for the Connector element with id="orion.server.https" and change the value of the compression attribute to off (compression="off").
  4. Start the ePO services:
    1. Press Windows+R, type services.msc, and click OK.
    2. Right-click each of the following services and select Start:

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Application Server
      McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Server
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Event Parser
