Environment

McAfee Agent (MA) 5.x for Linux

Summary

McAfee Agent for Linux installation using McAfeeSmartInstall.sh fails with following error:

./McAfeeSmartInstall: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required by ./McAfeeSmartInstall)

Cause

The McAfeeSmartInstall.sh process requires one of the following glibc versions:

For 64-bit McAfee Agent, glibc 2.7 or later is required.
For 32-bit McAfee Agent from the Agent Deployment URL, glibc 2.3.2 or later is required.

Solution

To install the native 64-bit McAfee Agent, install or upgrade to glibc 2.7 or later.

To install the 32-bit McAfee Agent, install or upgrade to glibc 2.3.2 or later.

Workaround

If you can't install the required version of glibc, use install.sh to install McAfee Agent 5.x instead of McAfeeSmartInstall.
