How to enable debug logging for the MOVE Extension

Environment

McAfee Management for Optimized Virtual Environments (MOVE)
McAfee MOVE Antivirus (AV) Agentless 4.x
McAfee MOVE AV Multi-Platform 4.x

Summary

When you troubleshoot problems that relate to one or more MOVE extensions, you can set the log level to debug to collect more data in the Orion log.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to disable the debug log setting after troubleshooting and log collection.

Solution

To enable extra debug logging in the Orion.log:

Click Start, Run, type services.msc, and click OK.
Right-click each of the following services and select Stop:

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Event Parser
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Server
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Application Server

Edit the file log-config.xml located in <epo_Install_fodler>\Server\conf\orion\log-config.xml
Add the following text above the root tag section (<root>):

<logger name="com.mcafee.move">
<level value="debug"/>
</logger>
<logger name="com.mcafee.dccommon">
<level value="debug"/>
</logger>
<logger name="com.mcafee.dcmigration">
<level value="debug"/>
</logger>

NOTE: If needed, you can adjust the size of Orion.log by following steps 5 and 6 below. Skip to step 7 to keep the default size.
Locate the MaxFileSize parameter and change the value to a larger amount:

From:
<param name="MaxFileSize" value="2MB"/>

To:
<param name="MaxFileSize" value="20MB"/>

NOTE: You can set a smaller value, for example 10 MB or 15 MB, if needed.
Click File, Save.
Click File, Close.
Click Start, Run, type services.msc, and then clickOK.
Right-click each of the following services and click Start:

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Application Server.

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Server

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator x.x.x Event Parser

Close the services console.
