On Access Scan Exclusion details not returned from MOVE AntiVirus Multi-Platform
Technical Articles ID:   KB88864
Last Modified:  3/8/2017

Environment

McAfee Management for Optimized Virtual Environments (MOVE)
McAfee MOVE AntiVirus (AV) Multi-Platform 4.5, 4.0

Problem

Running the command mvadm exp list oas on a MOVE AV Multi-Platform client machine returns inaccurate, incomplete, or completely missing details of the On Access Scan (OAS) exclusions.

Cause

The results returned are based on the number of On Demand Scan (ODS) exclusions present. The following are examples of this:
  • If the client has 4 ODS exclusions configured – the max number of OAS exclusions that can be displayed is 4.
  • If the client has 10 ODS exclusions and 9 OAS Exclusions configured, all 9 OAS exclusions are displayed.

Solution

Technical Support is aware of this issue; there are plans to correct it in the next software release of MOVE AV Multi-Platform. This article will be updated when information becomes available.

Workaround

CAUTION: This article contains information about opening or modifying the registry.
  • The following information is intended for System Administrators. Registry modifications are irreversible and could cause system failure if done incorrectly.
  • Before proceeding, Technical Support strongly recommends that you back up your registry and understand the restore process. For more information, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986.
  • Do not run a REG file that is not confirmed to be a genuine registry import file.

To check and see what exclusions are applied, follow the steps below:
  1. Go to Start, Run and type regedit.
  2. In regedit, navigate to the key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\mvagtdrv\Parameters
  3. Locate registry entry PassThruList and view contents.
