Changing the IP address of NSX Manager causes the connection with ePolicy Orchestrator to be lost
Technical Articles ID:   KB88907
Last Modified:  6/17/2019

Environment

McAfee Management for Optimized Virtual Environments (MOVE)
McAfee MOVE AntiVirus (AV) Agentless 4.5.x, 4.0.x, 3.6.x
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.3.x, 5.1.x

Problem

After changing the IP address of the NSX Manager in vCenter, the NSX Manager loses connection with the ePO server. Attempts to unregister fail. Removal of the cloud account fails with an internal error.

Solution

Technical Support is investigating this issue. As a temporary measure, implement the following workaround.

Workaround

Perform the following steps when the NSX Manager IP address changes after MOVE registration:
  1. Note the old NSX Manager IP and new NSX Manager IP.
  2. Perform a successful vCenter Cloud Account Sync so that the changed NSX IP address is reflected in the ePO System Tree.
  3. Change the NSX Manager IP in the following tables using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio:
  • DC_AL_NSX_MANAGER_DETAILS
  • DC_AL_NSX_MANAGER_TAG
  • DC_AL_NSX_MANAGER_VENDOR_TEMPLATES
  1. After the MOVE tables are updated with the new NSX Manager IP address, the NSX Manager tab will reflect the new IP address. The NSX Manager tab can be found under Service in the MOVE Antivirus Deployment Page.
  2. Edit, validate, and save the NSX Manager Configuration under the MOVE Antivirus Deployment Page.
