The McAfee 5900 Scan Engine and VirusScan Command Line Scanner 6.1.0 reach End of Life (EOL) on April 30, 2019.

NOTE: For information about the latest Scan Engine, see KB66741 and KB88809.

Standard Scan Engine EOL Policy:
Scan Engines and their associated Command Line Scanners begin their EOL process after a new Scan Engine version is released. Upon release of the new Scan Engine version, the previous Scan Engine is supported for an additional six months. At the end of the six months, you will not be able to receive any further support on the previous version. 

NOTE: If you have concerns or questions about the 5900 Scan Engine EOL, contact Technical Support and ask to have your concerns sent to the product manager.

To contact Technical Support, log on to the ServicePortal and go to the Create a Service Request page at https://support.mcafee.com/ServicePortal/faces/serviceRequests/createSR:
  • If you are a registered user, type your User Id and Password, and then click Log In.
  • If you are not a registered user, click Register and complete the required fields. Your password and logon instructions will be emailed to you.

Definitions:
  • EOL period—The time frame that runs from the day McAfee announces product discontinuation, until the last date that McAfee formally supports the product. In general, after the EOL period is announced, no enhancements are made.
  • EOL date—The last day that the product is supported, according to the terms of the McAfee standard support offering.
