Internal error on the server (when deleting a Registered Cloud Account)

Environment

McAfee Cloud Workload Discovery (CWS) 5.x
CWS components:

McAfee CWS for Microsoft Azure
McAfee CWS for vSphere
McAfee CWS for Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Problem

When you try to delete a registered cloud account in ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), you see the following error:

Internal error on the server

The Orion.log file records the following error when debugging is enabled:

Caused by: com.mcafee.epo.core.EpoValidateException: You have selected a tag that is already in use.
at com.mcafee.epo.core.services.EPOTagServiceInternal.deleteTag(EPOTagServiceInternal.java:570)
at com.mcafee.mdcc.system.service.CloudTagServiceImpl.deleteTag(CloudTagServiceImpl.java:158).

Cause

When you delete the registered cloud account, a dialog displays with the following two checkboxes:

Delete System Tree groups corresponding to this account
Delete Tags

This error occurs if you click Delete Tags, and one or more systems that do not belong to that cloud account erroneously have the same tag assigned.

Solution

Identify the systems that do not belong to that account, but have the same tag assigned. Remove the tag from the systems you have identified.

Workaround

To avoid this issue, do not select the Delete Tags option when removing the cloud account.
