Google Chrome fails to start or crashes while Data Loss Prevention Endpoint is in Device Control
Technical Articles ID:   KB89279
Last Modified:  5/7/2019

Environment

McAfee Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Endpoint 10.0.x

Problem

Google Chrome crashes or fails to start with DLP Endpoint installed.

NOTE: This issue occurs when the DLP Endpoint Operation Mode is set to either Device Control Only or Device Control and Content Aware Removable Storage Protection. You can also see this issue under Full Content Protection when the Chrome modules are disabled in Operational Modes and Modules.

Cause

Fcagchrome.dll and fcagchrome64.dll are being injected into the Chrome.exe process belonging to the incompatible version of Chrome. The version of Chrome installed on the client is not listed in the Supported Chrome versions .xml, and the workaround listed in KB89183 does not resolve the issue.

Solution

This issue has been resolved in DLP Endpoint 10.0.200. Upgrade to this version to correct the issue.

McAfee product software, upgrades, maintenance releases, and documentation are available from the Product Downloads site at: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx.

NOTE: You need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the Product Downloads site, and alternate locations for some products.
