Agent communication to the ePO server might fail, or the client machine might not update or enforce new policies.

This error occurs when MA attempts to add itself as an exception to the firewall, and fails for any reason. The failure could occur because the firewall is already disabled, or because communication is blocked despite MA already being excluded in the firewall rules.

Ensure communication port 443 is open in your firewall or change the port ePO uses for agent-to-server communication to a port you can open in your environment.

For more information on agent-to-server communication, see the "Managing agent-server communication" section in the ePO Product Guide for your version:

  • PD25504 - ePO 5.3.x Product Guide
  • PD24808 - ePO 5.1.x Product Guide

Ensure your firewall is enabled, and frameworkservice.exe is excluded.

Use the documentation for your firewall product or contact your firewall manufacturer for instructions to add an exclusion for frameworkservice.exe; the McAfee Common Framework.
