Windows Defender Security Center does not report the Host Intrusion Prevention Firewall protection status on Windows 10 Creators Update
Technical Articles ID:   KB89353

Environment

McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0 Patch 9
Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update (also referred to as Windows 10 RS2)

Problem

Windows Defender Security Center fails to report the Host IPS Firewall protection status on Windows 10 Creators Update.

Cause

Windows Defender Security Center is currently designed to work only with Windows Defender Firewall. The original Windows Security Center still exists and is accessible via the Control Panel. It correctly reports the protection status of third-party firewalls including Host IPS Firewall.

Solution

This issue is resolved in Microsoft Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (also referred to as Windows 10 RS3), which allows third-party firewalls to be reported in the Windows Defender Security Center.

Microsoft Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is available from the Microsoft Windows 10 download page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10.
