Application Control events are reported back to the ePO server from a client that only has Change Control enabled
Technical Articles ID:   KB89430
Last Modified:  9/23/2019

Environment

McAfee Application and Change Control (MACC) 8.x, 7.x, 6.x
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) 5.9.x, 5.3.x

Problem

Application Control (MAC) events are reported to the ePO server from a client that only has Change Control (MCC) enabled.

Cause

Events that are reported from a client to ePO, such as a Write_denied, are generated by both MAC and MCC. All events are classified as MAC events even if MAC is disabled or not present on the client. This causes confusion, because there is no way to discern whether the event is specifically from MAC or MCC.

Solution

This issue is currently under investigation. There is no workaround or solution available at this time.
