High memory usage on systems with the Threat Intelligence Exchange Module for VirusScan Enterprise 1.0.2 or 1.0.1
Technical Articles ID:   KB89611
Last Modified:  1/23/2019

McAfee Threat Exchange Module (TIEm) for VirusScan Enterprise 1.0.2, 1.0.1
McAfee  VirusScan Enterprise  (VSE) 8.8 with or without patch

For details of TIEm supported environments, see KB83368.

When TIEm is enabled in enforce mode, Mcshield.exe encounters a memory leak, with Commit Size Memory (Virtual / Paging memory) reaching values of 4 GB to 19 GB. After one week, monitored systems show more than 1 GB of memory being consumed.

If this condition continues with no system restart, it can lead to performance issues.

If you disable TIEm, the memory leak does not occur.

This issue is resolved with TIEm for VSE

To view other TIEm for VSE known issues, see KB84487.
