Installation of Microsoft patches fails on systems with DLP Endpoint 11.0.130 or 10.0.330 already installed. This patch installation failure includes the Microsoft Meltdown and Spectre security update (KB4056894). After the system has rebooted during the patch installation process, the following error occurs:

Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer.
NOTE: Only DLP Endpoint 11.0.130 and 10.0.330 experience this issue. All other versions of DLP Endpoint are unaffected.


When the Microsoft security update installation runs and poqexec.exe is engaged after reboot, the poqexec.exe process tries to complete the update to the Windows system files. As the update attempt occurs, DLP Endpoint analyzes the system files being updated, and a sharing violation occurs. The sharing violation causes the poqexec.exe process to fail and rollback the system files to the previously known good version.

NOTE: The issue is intermittent. The issue will not occur if the update of the Windows system files is performed before or after DLP Endpoint has had the opportunity to analyze the file. 


This issue will be corrected with the release of the following DLP Endpoint hotfixes:
  • DLP Endpoint hotfix 10.0.350 (released on January 10, 2018. Available on the Product Downloads site and ePO Software Manager.)
  • DLP Endpoint hotfix 11.0.150 (released on January 11, 2018. Available on the Product Downloads site and ePO Software Manager.)
  • DLP Endpoint patch 11.0.200 (estimated availability: January 31, 2018)
