Environment

McAfee Installation Designer (MID) 8.8.10
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8

Problem

A custom sitelist is not installed, when you have used the VSE installation package, to create a custom MID package with a custom sitelist.

The issue is only seen when the package is selected to be installed silently.

Cause

When the command-line switch /Silent is used, the command-line parameters passed to the msiexec.exe do not handle the sitelist SITELISTINFO.

Solution

Technical Support is investigating this issue. As a temporary measure, implement the following workaround.

Do not run the installation in silent mode. When creating the MID package, do not select the installation option Install product silently.

To add a custom sitelist to MID package:

Before creating a MID package, upgrade the McAfee Agent (MA) build on the system to the MA build with the MA hotfix MA506HF1223599.
Open a command-line session, navigate to the MA installation folder, and run the following command:

maconfig.exe -getsiteinfo C:\temp

NOTE: The sitelist and two files are copied to the temp folder.

Rename the two key files to:
- reqseckey.bin
- srpubkey.bin
Use MID to add this sitelist to the VSE package, using the AutoUpdate configuration tab.
While on the same tab, add the MA506HF1223599 framepkg_upd.exe.
Complete the MID package creation process. The new MID package contains both the custom sitelist and the new MA version (framepkg_upd.exe).
