Problem

The McAfee Agent service masvc intermittently stops working (system crash), or after a system restart.


The following is recorded in the System event log:

Cause

The MA service masvc intermittently stops working on systems where an MA task is scheduled to run after a system restart. The task fails to be saved correctly, which leads to the system crash.

Solution

This issue is resolved in McAfee Agent 5.5.1, which is available from the Product Downloads site at: http://mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx

Updates are cumulative; Technical Support recommends that you install the latest one.
