Intermittent application crash on apache.exe in ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10 (build 5.10.2408)

Problem

This problem can be experienced with ePolicy Orchestrator 5.10 (build 5.10.2408) released on August 14, 2018.

An intermittent application crash on apache.exe can occur when you have one or more tags set to evaluate on every agent-server communication. 

Windows application event log records the following Event ID 1000 with one or both of the following details:

Faulting application name: Apache.exe, version: 2.4.33.0, time stamp: 0x5af39300
Faulting module name: RuleEng.dll, version: 5.10.0.2362, time stamp: 0x5b46f44a
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000098a4

Server.log on the handler might contain an error similar to the following:

Cause

The issue is with the first posting of ePO 5.10. It only impacts ePO with a build number of 5.10.0.2408. If customers experience an application crash on Apache with any other release of ePO, the underlying issue is different from the one covered in this article. 

Solution

This issue is resolved with ePO 5.10 Repost (build 5.10.2428.1)
