Command-line method:

1. Open an administrator command prompt
   1. Click Start.
   2. In the Start Search box, type cmd, and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
   3. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
2. In the command window, type the following command:
   
   wmic diskdrive get caption, firmwarerevision

Device Manager method:

NOTE: The Device Manager method only displays the last four characters of the firmware version. This method does not provide enough information to determine if the version of firmware is supported. If more specific versioning information is needed, follow Solution 1.

1. Open Device Manager.
2. Expand Disk Drives.
3. Right-click on the hard drive in question and select Properties.
4. Click the Details Tab.
5. From the drop-down list, select Hardware IDs.
   
   The firmware version is the last four characters of the Hardware ID value.
