Microsoft has announced that the End of Extended Support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 is January 14, 2020. For details, see:
McAfee Enterprise support policy for McAfee Enterprise products on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, beyond January 14, 2020
Standard Support is provided until December 31, 2021. Extended support options are available for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 only until December 31, 2023.
McAfee Enterprise expects to support the following products on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 until December 31, 2021:
- McAfee Active Response (MAR)
- McAfee Agent (MA)
- McAfee Application and Change Control (MACC)
- McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS)3
- McAfee Data Loss Prevention Endpoint (DLP Endpoint)1

- McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS)
- McAfee Management of Native Encryption (MNE)1

1 DE, DLP Endpoint, FRP, and MNE are supported on Windows 7 only. DE, DLP Endpoint, FRP, and MNE aren’t supported on Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 as part of this plan.
2 VirusScan Command Line Scanner (VSCL) follows the same Windows 7 and Server 2008 support timeline as VSE.
3 Due to SHA-256 code signing requirements that Microsoft introduced, the listed product can't support Windows Server 2008.
McAfee Enterprise will continue to provide support only as long as it’s technically and commercially reasonable for McAfee Enterprise and there’s no external dependency.
Example: If McAfee Enterprise determines that a McAfee Enterprise product requires Microsoft to provide a fix, and Microsoft can't provide the fix. In this situation, McAfee Enterprise can't support the product any longer.
Future releases of McAfee Enterprise products that are released after January 14, 2020, might not support Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2.
How to purchase extended support after December 31, 2021:
Beginning in January 2022, customers who want to use the above products on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 must purchase extended support to continue receiving Technical Support and content updates for these products. Contact your McAfee Enterprise account manager for more details about this option.
