Standalone installer fails to install when using the verbose logging switch

Environment

McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS) 10.7.0

Problem

When you install ENS 10.7.0 using the standalone installer, and supply the verbose logging switch (for example, "setupEP.exe ADDLOCAL="tp,atp,fw" /l*v"C:\temp\"), the ENS installer does not write anything to the logs. Also, it does not install and almost immediately exits.

Solution

This issue is resolved in the ENS 10.7.0 April 2020 Update.

Workaround

To allow the successful installation of ENS using the standalone installer, remove the verbose logging switch. You remove the switch from the command-line argument passed to the standalone installer. For example, change the following:

setupEP.exe ADDLOCAL="tp,atp,fw" /l*v"C:\temp\"

To:

setupEP.exe ADDLOCAL="tp,atp,fw" /l"C:\temp\"

NOTE: Do not copy the command to your command-line because this text could include invisible characters.
