Starting with DLP Endpoint 11.3, the Chrome browser is supported as part of the “Web Protection” rules capabilities.
Before DLP Endpoint 11.3, you needed an Application File Access Protection rule to protect files from being uploaded to websites through Chrome.
In DLP Endpoint 11.3 and later, a new Chrome extension protects file uploads. Benefits include:
- DLP recognizes every Chrome version as supported with no reduction in coverage.
- You no longer need to run queries to discover systems with a supported Chrome version installed.
- Use Web Protection rules to block web POST actions for Chrome instead of Application File Access Protection rules.
NOTE: McAfee Enterprise will remove the following settings that are no longer used, starting in DLP Endpoint 11.6:
- The “Chrome Supported Version” condition in the Application File Access Protection rule will be removed.
- In System tree details, the System property “Is Chrome Version Supported” will be removed because it is no longer relevant.
- The “Supported Chrome Versions” table will be removed from Windows Client Configuration.
