Why am I being migrated from ePO Cloud to MVISION ePO?
To keep your service to the best quality with the latest features and up-to-date hardware, we’re transitioning our ePO Cloud customers to our MVISION platform. MVISION ePO is our next-generation platform of the award-winning ePolicy Orchestrator.
For more information about MVISION ePO, see the MVISION ePO product page.
If you have any concerns or queries regarding the transition process, file a service request (SR) to allow us to work with you.
When does the transition to MVISION ePO happen?
McAfee Enterprise contacts you through email with the exact migration date when your ePO Cloud data gets replicated to MVISION. When the replication completes, it triggers a task on your endpoints that transitions your endpoints to MVISION ePO.
What happens during the transition process?
McAfee Enterprise takes care of the transition process, which we intend to make smooth and transparent to you. The migration process doesn’t require any downtime for the endpoints. Your endpoint protection software on the endpoints functions even during the transition process like it usually does. Below is the sequence of what happens:
When can I start using MVISION ePO?
After you receive a confirmation email, you’ve been successfully migrated from ePO Cloud to MVISION ePO. You can now log on to your MVISION ePO account.
What credentials do I use to log on to MVISION ePO?
You use the same credentials that you used to log on to ePO Cloud.
Are my licenses automatically be mapped over to MVISION ePO?
Yes. During the migration process, all your ePO Cloud licenses get mapped to MVISION ePO.
Do I need to reconfigure any settings or policies after the migration?
No. Your system tree, tags, events, policies, and tasks are all replicated to MVISION ePO.
How long does my ePO cloud remain active after the migration?
Post completion of the migration of resources to MVISION ePO, you’re no longer able to access the ePO console. A page is shown with the message “Your account has been migrated to MVISION.” You're redirected to MVISION ePO in five seconds.
I don’t see all my endpoints show up in MVISION; what do I do?
Make sure all your protected endpoints connect at least once to the ePO Cloud during the transition period.
How long does the transition period last?
The transition period lasts for 45 days after your migration date. During this period, you can view your ePO Cloud console, but you can't change your ePO Cloud service.
What happens during the transition process?
Are my endpoints protected during the migration process?
Yes. There’s no disruption to protection during the migration process.
Are ePO cloud events migrated to MVISION ePO?
Yes. The last one year of ePO Cloud events is migrated to MVISION ePO.
What isn’t migrated?
The following aren’t migrated from Cloud ePO to MVISION ePO:
What happens if I have an existing MVISION ePO Tenant?

Your endpoint protection software on the endpoints functions even during the transition process like it usually does. Below is the sequence of what happens:
- Your current licenses are mapped to MVISION ePO. Your account is updated to reflect this transition.
- Your system tree, tags, events, policies, and tasks are replicated to MVISION ePO.
- When the process is complete, you receive an email from MVISION ePO. The email allows you to log on MVISION ePO with the same logon credentials, to monitor and manage your endpoints.
- After the completion of replication of your data to MVISION ePO, the ePO Cloud initiates a task. The task transitions all connected systems to MVISION ePO.
- Your ePO Cloud remains active for 45 days after the trigger of the transition task.
- Before your migration date
Make sure that your firewall and proxy allows access to MVISION ePO. For details, see KB90878 - Ports and URLs needed for MVISION ePO communication through a firewall.
NOTES:- Only systems that have communicated in the last month from the system migration start date are considered eligible for migration.
Update October 2021:
The above behavior has been improved. We now continue to monitor newly online devices for the 45-day migration period for each tenant. In addition, we automatically migrate devices that are newly brought online.
- This monitoring and processing will continue until the migration period for each tenant expires, or all devices in each tenant are migrated.
- Only systems that have communicated in the last month from the system migration start date are considered eligible for migration.
- After the migration date
You need to monitor the progress. Make sure that you can access your MVISION ePO account after you receive the replication complete notification.
You also need to make sure that the protected endpoints connect at least once to the ePO Cloud in the transition period.

What happens during the transition process?
- Starting on your migration date, ePO cloud pushes a task to update the ePO service on your endpoints to connect to the MVISION ePO service. When each endpoint connects to ePO Cloud, it’s reconfigured so that your new service manages it.
- Your ePO Cloud remains active for 45 days after your migration date. This window makes sure that all systems get significant time to connect to the new service.
- With your endpoints, the last one year of events from your ePO Cloud, are also migrated to the MVISION ePO service.
- Queries/Reports
- Server tasks
- Automatic response rules
- Active Directory configurations
What happens if I have an existing MVISION ePO Tenant?
All current licenses, data, and configuration from ePO Cloud are mapped to your existing MVISION ePO tenant.
My renewal date is near. What must I renew to?
If you’ve already been migrated to MVISION ePO, you must renew to MVISION ePO.
If you’re still on Cloud ePO, renew with your existing TSH SKU.
If you’re still on Cloud ePO, renew with your existing TSH SKU.
I already have an MVISION account. How does my migration happen?
If you already have an MVISION account and the details match, the migration tool doesn’t pick up the migration automatically. The migration tool is unable to determine if:
- The account is only a test account, and has to be overwritten.
Or - The account has production data, which must not be overwritten.
I would like to try MVISION ePO. How can I do that?
You can trial MVISION ePO. Use the Sign Up link on the MVISION ePO logon page.
IMPORTANT: Don’t use the same primary user email address that you have for Cloud ePO. The migration automation tool uses that email to create your account. Use of the primary email blocks the tool from proceeding further. The migration tool can't choose what needs to be done with the data in the trial account.
