This article describes how to test Real Protect Beta content on managed and unmanaged endpoints.
To evaluate the Real Protect Beta content on managed endpoints:
- In the ePO console, select Menu, Configuration, Server Settings.
- Select Source Sites, and then click Edit, Add Source Site.
- Enter AMCore Beta Content as the Repository Name, type HTTP, and click Next.
- In the Server name (URL) field, make sure that DNS Name is selected as the default and enter betaupdate.mcafee.com with default port 80. Click Next.
- On the credentials screen, select Anonymous and click Next.
- Continue clicking Next until the last screen, and click Save.
- Click Enable Fallback, and click Save.
- Select Menu, Automation, Server Tasks.
- Select the Update Master Repository task and click Edit.
- Click Next to navigate to the Action tab, and click +.
- In the New Action section, select Repository Pull.
- Select the AMCore Beta content as the Source site, Evaluation for Branch (if the current production AMCore content is being pulled into the current branch). Click Save.
- Select the Update Master Repository task and click Run.
To evaluate the Real Protect Beta content on unmanaged endpoints:
- In the ENS standalone client, select Settings from the ENS drop-down list.
- Click Show Advanced.
- Click Tasks under Common.
- Click Add under Source site for updates.
- Enter McAfeeBeta as the Name and enter betaupdate.mcafee.com as the site address. Leave all other fields with the default value.
- Disable other source sites for updates if any.
- Click Apply for the changes to take effect.
- Click Update Now. On success, AMCore Beta content has minor version .3.
- Verify the AMCore Content Version under Threat Prevention. You see, for example, XXXX.3.
To verify that the latest Real Protect Beta content is updated:
- Go to the notification area, right-click the McAfee icon, and right-click McAfee Endpoint Security. The ENS client opens.
- Select About from the drop-down list next to Update Now in the top-right corner.
- Click Adaptive Threat Protection. Verify the latest Real Protect Engine and Content Version.
- Verify that the Real Protect Engine Version is 1.1.0.XXXX. This version is the latest if the latest Beta content has the latest Real Protect Engine.
- Verify that the Real Protect Content Version is 1.1.YYYYY.XXXX. This version is the latest if Real Protect has released a new model.
- Verify the AMCore Content Version under Threat Prevention. You see, for example, XXXX.3 for the Beta content.
