Summary

Background details:
The DXL 5.0.0 client is now integrated into MA 5.6.0 and later. The DXL client is no longer a standalone component deployed by DXL. MA 5.6.0 bundles the DXL client as a component. The DXL client is now automatically installed on managed systems with MA 5.6.0 and automatically connects to a DXL broker in your environment. Problem

DXL client is not installed when deployed through a Group Policy (GPO).

Administrators have followed the steps in KB89861 - How to prepare a McAfee Agent 5.x install package that is suitable to be deployed through a Group Policy.

The MFEagent_x64.msi is download and executed, McAfee Agent is installed but not the DXL client.

Errors recorded in the masvc.log file:

Cause

As part of GPO installation, mcupdater.exe must be invoked to install the DXL client extension, which it fails to do.

There is a problem with either:

The contents of the contrib.ini file.
Or
The dxl.zip package is missing in the agent data folder.

Solution

We investigated this issue and a Proof of Concept (POC) Build is currently available to resolve the issue. To obtain the POC Build, log on to the ServicePortal and create a Service Request. Include this article number in the Problem Description field.
