When you install DLP extensions to ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), there are some best practices to observe. These best practices ensure that no other extensions are still installing. They also ensure that when the new extension is installed, it has completed before any extensions are installed, updated, upgraded, or removed.
Perform these checks before and after any extension check-in, installation, update, upgrade, or removal, or of a service restart or a server restart for Data Loss Prevention management in ePO.
Before you install a DLP ePO extension:
- Make sure that none of the installed extensions are labeled red when you select them. Also, make sure that none of the installed extensions have any red error statements in the right pane in the Extension list. During the installation of an extension, other extensions which might have a dependency can show the following error message for some time until the installation is complete:
Dependency was shut down.
It will return to a running state and the error text will be gone after the original dependency is installed or upgraded. Perform this check again after you install any new DLP extension. If any error messages are present, troubleshoot the messages, and contact Technical Support.
- Make sure that there are no Unknown Product instances in the list of extensions which, if selected, show the message "Installing" in the right pane. (Any Unknown Product is usually at the bottom of the list.) Perform this check again after you install any new DLP extension. If this message doesn’t disappear after several hours, contact Technical Support.
- Make sure that all extensions that are already installed, when selected, show a message of "Installed" in the right pane. Also, make sure that all listed modules in the right pane are "running." Perform this check again after you install any new DLP extension. It’s possible that the message might not be "running," but might be, for example, "Installing." If the message doesn’t change to "running" after several hours, contact Technical Support.
