Defined Networks FQDN with dash doesn’t appear on the client

Environment

McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS) Firewall 10.x

Problem

You edit the ENS Firewall Options policies via ePolicy Orchestrator policy. If you add fully qualified domain name (FQDN) values that contain a dash to the Defined Networks section, they do not apply on the ENS clients.

This issue only applies to ENS clients that ePO policy manages. All standalone (locally managed) ENS client FQDN network value functionality is not affected. This issue only applies to the Defined Networks section of the Firewall Options policy. Other areas of the Firewall Options or Firewall Rules policies where FQDN network values can be used are not affected.

Solution

This issue is resolved in ENS 10.7.0 February 2021 Update.

Workaround

Instead of using the FQDN value as a Defined Networks entry, you can use either of the following options:

Add the IP addresses associated with the FQDN network entry to the Defined Networks section.
Add the FQDN value as a LOCAL NETWORK or REMOTE NETWORK in a new or existing Firewall rule. Add the value to the rule in the ENS Firewall Rules policy.

NOTE: The firewall rule configuration varies depending on your specific need.
