This issue is resolved in Host IPS 8.0
Patch 16 Hotfix 114947, which is available from Technical Support. This hotfix optimizes the stored procedure
HIP8SP_UpdateHIPProperties to improve Host IPS performance. The change avoids any database schema lock and subsequent freeze in the ePO console.
NOTE: This hotfix introduces two changes that you should be aware of, as follows:
- It updates the stored procedure HIP8SP_UpdateHIPProperties as stated above.
- It changes the Host IPS 8.0 Property Translator task that runs inside the ePO server Tomcat service from its default 15-minute runtime to 60-minute runtime. This change is made to the hidden background task, and not the server task that might be shown in the ePO server Server Tasks menu. Future Host IPS extension updates revert this task back to a 15-minute runtime.
- For more details about the back-end server task, see FAQ "Why is the ePO server using so much CPU when the Property Translator server task is running?" in KB73399 - FAQs for Host Intrusion Prevention 8.0.
- We recommend that any ePO server tasks related to the "Host IPS 8.0 Property Translator" task action should remain in a Disabled state since the back-end server task already runs regularly (by default). This server task is meant to run the task on-demand as needed (as to not wait for the next 15-minute or 60-minute runtime).
