On a VDI client, the DXL lookup fails with Request Timed Out

Environment

McAfee Agent 5.7.4, 5.7.3, 5.7.2
McAfee Data Exchange Layer (DXL) 5.x

Problem

The DXL client is unable to connect to the ePolicy Orchestrator server.

The lookup in DXL returns Request Timed Out.

Cause

During the MA startup on a VDI client, the agent receives a new GUID, because of an SMBIOS change. The GUID is passed to the DXL client before the ePO server can provide the correct GUID from the deprovisioned agent.

The dxl_property.config file records the original GUID, which the VDI client uses before ePO can supply the correct GUID.

Solution

This issue is resolved in McAfee Agent 5.7.5, which is available from the ePO Software Manager or the Product Downloads site.

Workaround

Restart the MA services. This action allows the DXL client to collect the correct GUID, and allows the DXL lookup to be successful:

Press the Windows key + R.
Type services.msc into the field and press Enter.
Right-click each of the services below, and select Restart:

Close the services window.
