Summary
Description of Campaign Agent Tesla has been active and continuously developed since 2014 and is offered with a malware-as-a-service business model. Initial delivery is typically through phishing email campaigns. Once executed, Agent Tesla is unpacked in three stages. The malware uses techniques such as steganography to deliver an embedded PE file from an image file and process hollowing before carrying out intended tasks of discovery and information theft. SMTP is used to exfiltrate stolen data and communicates with C2 servers by using a TOR network client. Our ATR Team gathers and analyzes information from multiple open and closed sources before disseminating intelligence reports. This campaign was researched by Qualys and shared publicly.
