Summary
Description of Campaign Threat actors are taking advantage of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and infecting users with a variant from the Remcos remote access trojan family. The malware is delivered in a malicious Excel file that takes advantage of a flaw in Microsoft Office. The defect is classified under CVE-2017-11882 and can result in remote code execution. Remcos has been on the threat landscape since at least 2019 and can provide an actor with full control over the infected device. Our ATR Team gathers and analyzes information from multiple open and closed sources before disseminating intelligence reports. This campaign was researched by Trustwave and shared publicly.
