Summary
Description of Campaign Threat actors continue to scour the internet looking for unpatched vulnerabilities that may be exploited to gain a foothold on a target infrastructure. As more organizations and individual users rely on public cloud infrastructure to host content and utilize IaaS, SaaS, or PaaS offerings, vulnerabilities are discovered, and malicious programs are written to exploit the vulnerabilities. In the recent past, three vulnerabilities were identified in the Spring Framework; threat actors have been seen hitting honeypots looking to exploit them as researchers collect data points and malware samples from the vulnerable honeypot servers with attacks including brute force attempts and remote code execution. Our ATR Team gathers and analyzes information from multiple open and closed sources before disseminating intelligence reports. This campaign was researched by Netlab 360 and shared publicly. Minimum Content Versions Detection Summary Minimum set of Manual Rules to improve protection to block this campaign: IMPORTANT: Always follow best practices when you enable new rules and signatures. When you implement new rules or signatures, always set them to Report mode first and check the alerts generated. Resolve any issues that arise and then set the rules to Block. This step mitigates against triggering false positives and allows you to refine your configuration.
