Summary
Description of Campaign Hive ransomware has been actively compromising targets since mid-2021. The operators of the Hive ransomware have operated on a ransomware-as-a-service business model which is available to affiliates as a fee-based service. Hive has taken advantage of multiple vulnerabilities as an entry point to targets. Once access is gained, different stages of data discovery are performed using commodity malware, such as Mimikatz for credential theft and network, and IP scanners for system and connectivity discovery, before delivering the final payload, which encrypts infected systems and ransoms them for payment. Our ATR Team gathers and analyzes information from multiple open and closed sources before disseminating intelligence reports. This campaign was researched by Veronis and shared publicly.
