McAfee SNS ProTip for Endpoint Security: When to migrate, and when not to migrate, OAS Exclusions

When migrating from VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) to Endpoint Security (ENS), one of the first steps is to migrate policies. With exclusions, McAfee recommends you revisit these settings and determine if they are still necessary within the environment. When migrating your environment from VSE to ENS, make sure you properly test ENS within a test environment before mass deployment. When to migrate: For third-party applications that have exclusions provided directly from the vendor, such as backup software. When NOT to migrate: Tuning performance in VSE usually required the heavy use of exclusions. Those exclusions, in most instances, are no longer needed or desired in ENS. ENS provides more functionality and utilities to help enhance performance within your environment, without the use of user-defined file/folder path exclusions. For more information about these changes, see KB88205 (https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB88205). Note: Exclusions may still be needed, but should be used only when more efficient solutions are not viable.
