McAfee SNS Notice: Updated content packages for Advanced Threat Defense (ATD) versions 4.0, 4.2, 4.4 and 4.6 Now Available

The Advanced Threat Defense (ATD) updated content packages for versions 4.0, 4.2, 4.4 and 4.6 are now available.  

This detection package adds detection updates to ATD. This update includes the following rule additions, fixes and enhancements:
  • Includes rules for Operation Sharpshooter.
  • Includes rules to tackle malware that behaves like the malware stated in CVE-2018-8653.
  • Includes rules for 
    • CHM malware that executes PowerShell script.
    • Malware that makes malicious entries to the Registry through PowerShell script.
  • Includes rule to detect malware that bypasses your security solution. The malware achieves this by loading unpatched DLLs.

Package details by version are as follows:

  • ATD 4.2: atd-detection-img-
  • ATD 4.0: atd-detection-img-
Customers can update to the detection packages using the following two options:
  • Auto-downloads:  Access on the ATD UI at:   Manage > Image & Software > Content Update > Detection Pkg.
  • Manual download:  Customers can download the content updates, behind appropriate grant numbers, from the Download Server at: http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/downloads.aspx
